Some how last week I wrote this up but failed to post it- skipping over it in the countdown of #1 hits- –In the summer of 1979- “My Sharona” was a welcome break from all the disco that seemed to be dominating the top of the charts. The record company got behind The Knack with money and big promotion- and their debut single went to #1- as did the album. There would be a big backlash against them but the fatal decision may have been to release a second album eight months after the first was released. I liked the debut album- and remember my reaction was very negative to the sophomore album. The songs just weren’t there.
