Note on this single- when originally released in 1970 it peaked at #74, a year later it reentered the Hot 100 and went to #14- that was in early 1971. All totaled it spent 31 weeks in the Hot 100. In 1971 in the hit run- it spent nearly a half a year- 24 weeks in the Hot 100.
Born Murray Seafield St.George Head in London, Murray Head a pop singer- actor who in 1970 appeared in the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar- from which “Superstar”was taken. He has had 2 Hot 100 hits- and they were both Top 40 hits- “Superstar” #14 and “One Night In Bangkok” #3 in 1985. Murray Head-74 today is still active in music and working in film as a character actor.
Good song on an iconic album. It was earth-shattering at the time!
