
Pro Football Hall of Fame Running Back- Floyd Little who played his entire career with the Denver Broncos, 1957-75 died of cancer on January 1st at the age of 78. Little was a 5 time Pro Bowl player who led the NFL in rushing in 1971. Little who played his college football at Syracuse where he was a three time All- American. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Professional Football Hall of Fame in 2010.

Basketball Hall of Famer Paul Westphal died of cancer on January 2 at the age of 80. Westphal a 6’4″ guard who played his college ball at USC was drafted in the first round in 1972 by the Boston Celtics- but is remembered best for his time with the Phoenix Suns from 1975-80. He was a 5 time NBA All-Star and after his playing career became an coach- he had his most success again with Phoenix but was also head coach of Seattle and Sacramento. In 2019 he was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
When I was a kid I had a Paul Westphal Nike poster. He was leaving a playground after shooting hoops, and it said “Going Home.” Kind of fitting now.
An under rated player- i don’t know why but i always think of him with the Celtics-although he spent more time in Phoenix.
