Iron Butterfly- a psychedelic rock band from San Diego- will forever be known for their biggest hit “In-A- Gadda- Da- Vida” #30 in 1968. They had 4 Hot 100 singles- that was their only Top 40 hit.

  1. Nice guys. My band played 2 tour dates with them in 1968 in Dallas. They were promoting their first album and came through town in two vans; one for gear and the other for the band. I saw them in concert at Moody Coliseum in 1970 with Jefferson Airplane. The Butterfly were the clear crowd favorite. JA didn’t endure themselves to the crowd of Texas longhairs by Grace Slick starting the show with ” its good to be in Texas, land of rednecks.” She was damn lucky she wasn’t dragged off of the stage. JA sucked and the Butterfly flew miles above them.
