John Robert Cocker was born in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England in 1944. He died at that age of 70 in 2014 of lung cancer. He had 17 Hot 100 singles with 8 making the Top 40. His biggest hit was a #1 with Jennifer Warnes- “Up Where We Belong” in 1982.
