He died of pancreatic cancer in 2013 at the age of 87. “The Cherokee Cowboy” was inducted into the C&W Hall of Fame in 1996. On the pop charts he had 10 Hot 100 singles- “For The Good Times” was his only Top 40 hit. The single won the Country Music Award for Song of The Year- for Kristofferson as songwriter and Single of the Year for Price. Great song which helped establish Kris Kristofferson as one of the great songwriters of the era.
Thanks Hans…I haven’t thought of him in years.
What a great tune. Reminds me of my old man.
