Born Roberta Streeter In Chickasaw County, Mississippi- Bobbie Gentry is a singer-songwriter, guitarist who won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1967. She had on the pop chart- 11 Hot 100 singles and 4 Top 40 hits- her signature song being the great “Ode To Billie Joe” her first hit #1 in 1967. While she is still living she hasn’t recorded since the early 1970’s.
