The Clique were a pop-rock band out of Beaumont, Texas. They had 3 Hot 100 singles -this being the final one- 1967-70. Their biggest hit reached #22 “Sugar On Sunday” 1969- their only Top 40 hit. “Sugar On Sunday” and “Sparkle And Shine” were both covers of Tommy James songs- they toured with Tommy James and The Shondells.
There’s a distinct Tommy James influence here. It would be a little strange I think to have this band tour with them. Like the Shondell Lites…
