Attached is an article on walking- no doubt in my mind that walking is a great medicine. When I was younger I used to run- not sure on running–but walking – YES.

Excellent essay, Hans. Is that you walking? If so, what’s the dish off in the distance?
No not me walking. I don’t think I have any pictures of myself walking.
I started walking again around Jan. 10.
Oh. So. Good.
Great. Keep it up- By now you’ve probably made it a habit!
I have! I feel so amazing and full of energy. I wrote a mini-grant yesterday in about ten minutes whereas in 2019, I honestly would stare at grant documents for days and days.
Do you ever go to the ALA conferences?
It does the same for me too- there are days when I really don’t want to go walk- but after i do I am glad I did- for that energy boost!.. No conferences for me.
I go Nordic walking twice a week – great fun, keeps me active and I’ve made some lovely new friends.
Awesome!

Of course, an idyllic English countryside is not mandatory for feelings of peace and satisfaction. A mindful walk in the park or the city streets can be just as meditative.
I rode my bike to work for almost 20 years. Before you get impressed, though, it was right down the street, like two blocks away. It only took 6 to 11 minutes to get there, depending on lights, right? But all the time I was doing it it felt like nothing and I didn’t think it was doing anything. But a year ago, my job moved out of the neighborhood and I’ve been driving there. Within 6 months–new fat grew everywhere. I already had old fat–didn’t need the new. And my back is SO SORE. Movement is life. Did you ever see World War Z? That’s what Brad Pitt said. He meant running from zombies…but in real life, without zombies, movement really is life.
Even a little bit of exercise sure did add up! I haven’t seen World War Z- any good?
I love to walk, but haven’t done much of it over the past few years due to severe pain in my right knee. I finally saw an orthopedic surgeon the other day about scheduling knee replacement surgery for this summer. I dread it, but it needs to be done so I can hopefully become more active again.
Got to do what you got to do- I wish you success. From friends who have had it- I think you will be glad when its over with and glad you had it done.
Hans, as far as zombie movies go, World War Z was up there. Pretty good, in my opinion.
Will have to check it out. Thanks!
Yay! π
