Actor Peter Fonda died the other day at at the age of 79. When I think of Peter Fonda of course I think of his masterpiece from 50 years ago Easy Rider, it comes to mind also he was the son of Hank- who he outlived believe it or not, the brother of Hanoi Jane who is 81. The first thing I think of though being a Beatles fanatic is his inspiring John Lennon to write “She Said She Said” from their finest album- 1966’s Revolver.

  1. Peter Fonda was a huge friend and supporter of the Byrds. It’s been written that Fonda’s and Dennis Hopper’s characters in “Easy Rider,” Wyatt and Billy, were based largely on the personalities and the relationship dynamic of Roger McGuinn and David Crosby (when Crosby had been a Byrd).

  2. I loved him in Easy Rider. I remember him surfing, either in or out, of LA in Escape from LA, which was a cheesy sequel to Escape from New York. It couldn’t have been easy for him being the son of Hank Fonda or the sister of Jane. The lost child, trying to make his way. May he rest in peace finally.
