My Music Listening Summary for the month of June 2019.

Albums- Listened to 208 albums for the month- a couple albums under a 7 a day average- for the year I have listened to 1284. The year is half over- 2500 for the year seems like a very do-able number. 55 albums I listened to in June were albums I hadn’t listened to before.  On June 2nd I began listening to my vinyl collection with the goal of going through them all- of the 208 albums I listened to in June 111 were from my vinyl collection. Not sure how many vinyl albums I have but I think it is in the 900-1000 range. I am sorting them out as I listen to an album. I don’t know how they  every got so out of order!

My goal of listening to 365 albums that were released in 1969- I fell behind in the second half of June- 181 days in the year I am at 166 albums- I need a couple days of heavy listening to 1969 and I will be caught up.

The artists whose discographies I have went through this year- The Beatles 6 times, R.E.M., The Band, U2, CCR, The Kinks, Nick Drake,  The Steel Wheels, Harry Nilsson, XTC, Elvis Costello, Mitski, The Ramones, David Bowie, Crowded House, Warren Zevon, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The Police, Uncle Tupelo, Steely Dan, George Harrison, Steve Earle, The Doors, Queen, Van Morrison, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Guy Clark, Bobbie Gentry, Buddy Holly, Lyle Lovett… working on Paul McCartney, Townes Van Zandt, The Byrds and Neil Young.

  1. You werent listening to your albums before? I knew you would have a lot of them and I was right. Will you listen in any order and how will you keep track of which ones youve listened to? You never fail to amaze and impress with your numbers!

    • Last fall I was listening to them a lot- what I decided to do June 2nd was to just start listening to them all-start all over. What I am doing is just pulling a bunch out- listening and then as I listen put them in order. I have 9 totes full of albums- and have listened to one tote full so far. That is how I will keep track- by putting them in alphabetical order after I listen to them. A long way to go but I am enjoying it. I love the sound of vinyl..

    • Not enough room- I own too many books- etc. the albums take up a lot of room also. Each tote stores over 100 albums.
