1969 SONG OF THE DAY- CAN’T FIND MY WAY HOME- BLIND FAITH

1969 Song of the Day is- Can’t Find My Way Home- by Blind Faith. Blind Faith as a one album one and done band-Stevie Winwood -who wrote and sang this song, Eric Clapton on guitar, Ric Grech on bass and Ginger Baker on drums. Clapton and Baker had just left Cream- it was one of those super groups that were so popular a concept in the late 60’s early 70’s- producing the album was Jimmy Miller who was between producing Rolling Stones albums- Beggars Banquet was out- Let It Bleed would be later in 1969. Can’t Find My Way Home and the rest of the album sounds more like Traffic- which had been Stevie Winwood’s band than it did Cream- where Clapton and Baker were coming from. The album was a big success but the band was breaking up as the album was topping the charts. Can’t Find My Way Home and Presence Of The Lord are the stand out songs on the album- classics. Can’t Find My Way Home has been a much covered song- Joe Cocker and Bonnie Raitt both covering it I can see- but Styx? I don’t know if I even want to hear that.

  1. Did Neil Young ever cover it? I could see that. I actually listened to the Styx version – it’s actually not that bad – no synths as best I can tell.
