  1. Good article…I would change a few of the last ones around…I can’t say that Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da is the worse song to me…that would go to Wild Honey Pie…

I did like what he said about the different types of songs…this is great

“The Beatles feels like a batch of wildly varied songs meant to share space with each other. Like family members who’ve pursued their own paths but reunite at the holidays, these songs seem to go together because they’ve always gone together.”

    • I don’t think Ob-La-Di- is the worst song on the album but I find it annoying Paul McCartney- not quite Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

    • the unique thing on the white album as far as beatles albums go- there are some throwaways on it- like Wild Honey Pie- which would never have made it on another album- but they all had odds and ends- unfinished and unpolished stuff they just threw on- if it had been a single album they would have been crucified for including but on a double album- what the heck.

    • I’m paraphrasing Paul but he said something about… people wanted us to not have B sides anymore…
The positive thing about the song is it included another musical style which was new to them….Where Maxwell’s Silver Hammer was just a bad pop song.

  2. Agree with you both about ob-la-di… I find several tracks on the white album unlistenable, just awful. I always thought it should have been a single album not a double (can I say that? Lol) and also despite loving George Harrison n Clapton and being a guitar player I never liked ‘while my guitar…’ Still some of the tracks are amongst my fav Beatles tracks. Top 3 for me: glass onion, yer blues, I’m so tired…

  3. But I like “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-dah.” It’s a catchy little tune. But I do agree that “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” is the signature track from the White Album. It’s probably one of the 20 best songs ever.
