The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is Not Fade Away. Not Fade Away was written by Buddy Holly and first performed by Holly with his band the Crickets in 1957-It was the b-side to their Oh, Boy! single. The Rolling Stones released their cover of Not Fade Away in February 1964 in the UK and it was a their first Top 10 hit in the UK going to #3. Released as a single in the US in March of 1964 it became the first single by The Rolling Stones to hit the Billboard Hot 100 but was only a medium hit-peaking at #48.

Not Fade Away was not released on The Rolling Stones self-titled debut in the UK but was released in the US on their first album in the US England’s Newest Hitmakers. The song with the big Bo Diddley style back-beat would be a staple on set lists by The Rolling Stones for years.
