It was fifty years ago today- September 16, 1968- the Republican nominee for President RIchard Milhous Nixon against the advice of his advisors- appeared for a brief cameo on the highly popular television show “Laugh-In.” One of the trademark phrases of the show was “Sock It to Me.” and Nixon after six takes he finally got it right- he was only on for five seconds but some have written over the years that those five seconds helped him in the election in November. Nixon wasn’t known for his sense of humor but this was funny. I remember watching Laugh-In that night.

Off topic- I just saw a report that the new McCartney #1 album this week. His first since Tug of War.

I believe he has with The Beatles- Wings- solo had #1 albums in every decade.
