The new Paul McCartney album “Egypt Station” has debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart. This is McCartney’s first #1 album since 1982’s Tug Of War- 36 years ago.

This is also Paul McCartney’s sixth straight decade with a #1- counting The Beatles, Wings and his solo career. The Beatles had 13 #1 albums in the 1960’s, 2 in the 1970’s- McCartney/ Wings had 6 #1’s in the 70’s, in the 1980’s there was Tug Of War, The Beatles 3 #1’s in the 90’s, The Beatles 1 #1 in the 2000’s and now Egypt Station in the 2010’s. Incredible.

  1. Wow, Sir Paul continues to shine – call me amazed without a “maybe.”😀

I will say, and I say this as a huge fan, this isn’t his best work. I prefer “Tug Of War” and “Band On The Run.” But there are some good tunes on “Egypt Station.”

Plus, the fact that he’s still so productive at this late stage in his career is pretty cool – and still apparently having a lot of fun while doing it. The latter is the most important aspect, in my opinion. Paul’s continued joy to perform for his fans shows, which is why I’m going to see him a third time, if I get a chance!
