John would say about the song, “That was written about a guy in Maharishi’s meditation camp who took a short break to go shoot a few poor tigers and then came back to commune with God. There used to be a character called Jungle Jim, and I combined him with Buffalo Bill. It’s sort of teenage social comment snog and a bit of a joke. Based on your rating, we seem to agree this is not one of The Beatles’ outstanding tunes. Frankly, I think I could have done without it altogether.
I’ve always had a soft spot for this song. To me. it’s like a catchy kid’s sing-along song with dark humor.
