ALBUMS

  • BOB DYLAN: PLANET WAVES: 1974: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The first real Bob Dylan studio album in three and a half years. A decent album the song that endures from it is Forever Young.

  • VAN MORRISON: NO GURU, NO METHOD, NO TEACHER: VAN MORRISON: 1986: One of Van’s best 80’s albums the spiritual seeking continues. Best songs on this album Got To Go Back, Oh The Warm Feeling, In The Garden, Tir Na Nog and One Irish Rover. At the time the reviews of the album were all over the place. I think its held up rather well over the years.

  • THE BEATLES: 1967-70 BLUE ALBUM: 1973: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The great second set of double album best of from The Beatles. After getting the Red album- 1962-66 I next had to get the Blue album–then on to the individual studio albums. Again- the gateway drug to a lifetime of being a Beatles fanatic.

  • THE BEATLES: WITH THE BEATLES: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: 1963: I was writing another post about the album- and thought I’d listen again as I was writing. Not only an exciting album- but the most underrated Beatles album cover.

  1. I asked on another of your posts where I should start with 80’s/90’s Van. Now that I’m catching up on a week’s worth of posts (my kids were visiting), I’m getting the idea.

    • Sorry I must have missed your reply. I’d say mid 80’s after A Sense Of Wonder- which is so-so. Underrated Van period comes after that.
