The Beatles Song of the Day is “Till There Was You” which is 6th song on Side 1 of “With The Beatles.” “Till There Was You” is the first cover song on the album, the first five songs having been written by The Beatles.Half of the fourteen songs on “With The Beatles” would be covers. “Till There Was You” was written by Meredith Willson for the 1957 Broadway hit show “The Music Man.” Peggy Lee one of Paul’s favourite artists Peggy Lee had a hit with it in 1958. The song was recorded on July 18th and 30th, 1963. John Lennon: acoustic rhythm guitar/ Paul McCartney: vocal/ George Harrison: acoustic lead guitar/ Ringo Starr:bongos. It was recorded at Abbey Road. Producer: George Martin. The Beatles had rearranged the song and it had been played during Beatles concerts from 1961-64.
