- HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES:COLLECTOR’S ITEM: ALL THEIR GREATEST HITS: 1976: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL:This was released before the end of their career- it covers ground from 1972-75 but for the most part it covered most of the career hits they would have. My big problem with this album now is it only contains four songs on each side- unedited versions of their hits. Five of the eight songs go on for six plus minutes, one for over eight. But it is a good album that gives a good representation of The Philly Sound. My favorite cuts- The Love I Lost, Bad Luck, If You Don’t Know Me By Now. Teddy Pendergrass was the lead singer- after he left in the mid-70’s the hits quit rolling in.
- I only listened to one album today- because I spent most of my listening time- 3 hours from 9am to noon listening to Celtic Crush with host Larry Kirwan on The Loft- and later in the afternoon the weekly three hours of The Neon Beat on Radio George.
