The Beatles Song of the Day is: “She Loves You.” “She Loves You” along with “I Want To Hold Your Hand” are the two early Beatles songs that among the greatest songs in the history of rock and roll music. These two songs are landmarks. John and Paul wrote this song together. When asked years later to name an example of a Lennon-McCartney song that was collaborative effort John quickly cited “She Loves You.” The song was started in a tour van but most of the song was written in Turk’s Hotel in Newcastle sitting on twin beds with their acoustic guitars. After the song was written they felt there was something missing and what was added on was the ‘yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah” Its hard to imagine “She Loves You” without the ‘yeah yeah.”  The song was finished at Paul’s house and when they played it for Paul’s father…

  1. “She Loves You” and “I Want to Hold Your Hand” are a significant leap from early McCartney-Lennon tunes like “P.S. I Love You”, “Do You Want to Know a Secret” and I would even say “Please Please Me” and “Love Me Do.” The German versions sound really funny!

    • I think I like Please Please Me- a little more than you do– but yes I agree She Loves You and I Want To Hold You Hand- great leaps forward. They just keep getting better.
