Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.
TODAY listened to 3 different albums. 122 day total-769 different albums. On pace for 2301 different albums.
- ELVIS COSTELLO: GET HAPPY! 1980: DISC 2: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: 30 songs on this second disc-mostly out alternate versions and demos- best of the EC reissue bonus discs.
- JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE: THE GOOD LIFE: 2008: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: An impressive first full length album by the son of Steve. Not that there was any pressure to deliver- your dad is Steve Earle and your middle name is Townes. He’s had a very active first decade since then. Lone Pine Hill, The Good Life, Ain’t Glad I’m Leaving, Lonesome and You – are highlights.
- THE BAND: JERICHO: 1993: 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Three of the original band on this- Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Garth Hudson- plus special guests. It’s not prime Band but it has its moments-highlights a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s classic “Atlantic City” and Bob Dylan’s “Blind Willie McTell.”
I know that very few EC fans would consider “Get Happy” as his best ever record, but I can honestly say that since its release it has always been my favourite.
Get Happy is on my short list of favorite EC albums. I said the other day it was Armed Forces but on certain days I’d go with Get Happy! Loved the first four albums. I seemed to be playing those albums back then as often as I took a breathe.
