The Cincinnati Bengals had a dismal season in 2016 finishing at 6-9-1. In my eyes they are a team on the decline. They have been chronic underachievers this decade. The talent is there but their self-destruction in the 2015 playoffs against the Steelers is typical of this team. How does Marvin Lewis keep his job? He has been the head coach for 15 seasons and has a 118-103-3 record. That is a winning record but they never seem to take it to the next level. I can’t think of any NFL head coach who has ever coached this long without winning a playoff game. From 2011-2015 the Bengals made the playoffs but lost their playoff game. Lewis has taken the Bengals to seven playoff games since becoming head coach in 2003. They are 0-7 in playoff games. No team this decade has gotten so little out of so much talent. As I Steeler fan I respect the Ravens. They know what they are doing. They have a clue. Any Ravens game is a war. The Bengals? They do beat the Steelers now and then but never when the game really counts and the money is on the table. I have always thought ‘soft’ when I think of the Bengals.
What are the Bengals needs in this upcoming draft? Defensive line is a big weakness they need help at both defensive end and tackle. They need help at linebacker also on defense. They could use a receiver and help at offensive tackle. They have more needs than they have in a number of seasons. A defensive line pick would probably be a wise decision but I see the them going with a burner if Washington WR John Ross is still on the board. Cincinnati selects with the 9th Pick- John Ross WR Washington. 5-10 190 4.22 in the 40. Game changing speed. The fastest receiver in the draft. Speed kills.
