2017 NFL Mock Draft – Pick 8 – Carolina Panthers – TE OJ Howard – Alabama

Everything that went right in 2015 for the Panthers went wrong in 2016. A few unlucky bounces finds Carolina picking in the top 10. I have to admit that I would not want to be in the Carolina draft room during the first round, because I think there could be a lot of things getting broken, depending on how this draft goes. Carolina could go DL, they could go RB, they could virtually any direction except QB. Although they already have a fantastic weapon in Greg Olsen on the roster, more weapons for Cam Newton is not a bad thing. At 6’5″ 249lbs Howard does almost everything well. He would create mismatches due to his speed and size, but will need to improve on his blocking skills. I think with players available OJ Howard is the pick.

Christian McCaffrey, John Ross, Derek Barnett, Dalvin Cook, or even Takkarist McKinley could go here. That is a RB, WR, DE, RB, and DE so virtually any name could be written on the card taken to the stage.
