2017 NFL Mock Draft – 7th pick LA Chargers – Jonathan Allen DE – Alabama

It is a good thing that Hans and I are not sitting beside one another as our mock draft is progressing. Because if that were the case, his computer might be met with an unfortunate ‘accident’. I am kidding of course, but for the second time he has taken the guy I expected to be here with the previous pick. The LA Chargers need defensive help. They would be absolutely thrilled to have either of the safeties Jamal Adams or Malik Hooker in this spot, but both of them are gone here. The best available player is Jonathan Allen, a game changer at DE from Alabama.

At 6’3″ 294 lbs Allen should be a plug and play guy for the Bolts. He has good moves, and is adept at both run and pass defense. Very skilled and should be a team leader. He seems to have his head on straight and has not been a distraction on or off the field. Think Ndamukong Suh but without the miscellaneous add ons.

    • usfman – i agree with you on allen – i think it depends on what happens with san fran at 2. Allen imho goes there or is taken by the Bears at 3. Hans makes a compelling argument for taking Jamal Adams, but if this breaks down differently i see Allen long gone at this pick. If not i see some team trading up to get him.

      thank you for your comment.
