In the last year a lot of strange [but good ] events have happened in sports as far as who has been winning. Last year the miracle of miracles in the Premier League in England with 5000-1 Leicester City winning the title. Cleveland hadn’t won a title in any sport since 1964 and they won the NBA with the Cavaliers. The Chicago Cubs hadn’t won a World Series since 1908 and they finally put it together this past fall. { The NFL’s last two champions Denver and New England of course have won championships in recent times and in the NHL the Pittsburgh Penguins had also.}   Last April in the NCAA men’s basketball- Villanova won for the first time in 31 years. Clemson upset mighty Alabama to claim their first National Championship in nearly 40 years.

Now we have a Final Four with 3 teams who are not traditional powers. Gonzaga and South Carolina have never been to the Final Four before and Oregon’s last trip was before there was even a Final Four- in 1939. North Carolina is no stranger to the Final Four- having gone to 20 and having won 5. I used to be a big college basketball fan but admit I don’t pay much attention to it anymore. I will watch this weekend. I am fine with anyone winning except for North Carolina.  Some great stories this weekend.  I like seeing teams that aren’t traditional winners- winning for a change.
