‘An Old Fashioned Love Song’ was written by Paul Williams- with The Carpenters in mind- but Richard Carpenter rejected it- and Williams then gave it to Three Dog Night- who turned it into their 7th Top 10 hit.

Paul Williams is a favorite of mine and the best version of this song is performed by him (IMO).
Will have to check out his version.
He has a voice that reminds me of honkey tonk music.
