Hans Hot 100 Beatles Songs: #36: ‘Dear Prudence’- a John Lennon song from The White Album- one of 13 songs from The White Album to make the cut. I notice I am on a run in the countdown of John Lennon written songs- this is the third in a row. John wrote this song during The Beatles summer of 1968 trip to India to study meditation under the Maharishi. One of the entourage- the sister of actress Mia Farrow- was very dedicated to TM- and was spending too much time away meditating- John wrote this song about her.

“the sun is up / the sky is blue / it’s beautiful / and so are you” God I love this song. It’s beautiful, it’s experimental, it’s spacy with the sitar, and pulls together so well. Plus it has a back story!
Most eloquently put; My thoughts exactly. Tempo changes, everything works and flows.
Thank you!
This song is high up on my list also.
my favorite song on ‘the white album’ and probably would be in my Beatles top 10. The Siouxshie & the Banshees cover of it is also among the best Beatles covers I’ve heard.
A great sounding song.
