Billy Joel’s third and final #1 hit- following ‘It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me’ 1980 and ‘Tell Her About It’ in 1983. This song had great timing- a song that started with events in the late 1940’s- up until the late 80’s- a lot of cold war references- just as the Iron Curtain started to crumble- the Berlin Wall fell in November 1989. I’ve always been a big history guy-so I really liked this one. Someone should do an update song with the last 32 years.. ‘the glove don’t fit you must acquit.’
I really like this song.
It must be tough to sing these lyrics!
