#48: ‘For No One’- another masterpiece from Revolver- written by Paul McCartney- who said he wrote it in the bathroom of a ski resort in the Swiss Alps- after having an argument with his girlfriend at the time Jane Asher. Paul and Ringo are the only Beatles on this recording- but the most memorable part of the recording is performed by an outside- Alan Civil on the french horn. John Lennon who could be critical not only of some of McCartney’s songs- but his own- would call this one of his favorites of Paul’s.
I love this one. It reminds me of “She’s Leaving Home,” which is also a beloved tune.
One of the Beatles’ saddest songs.
I wish the Beatles had kept that simple innocent sound that this song exudes.
This is one of their special ones, imo.
This one that should be played a lot but it’s not.
For me, this song has appeared too early on to countdown. It’s my stand out track from Revolver, and that album has a metric tonne of contenders for best track! The Rickie Lee Jones version is fabulous as well.
a great song can’t disagree with you on that.
