  • Single: ‘Eternal Flame’- The Bangles
  • Record Company- Columbia
  • Genre: Pop
  • Written by Susanna Hoffs, Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg
  • Time:3:56
  • B-side:’What I Meant To Say’
  • Album- Everywhere
  • Grade: A+
  • Peaked at #1 1 week in Billboard Hot 100. #1 in UK, #1 in Australia, Belgium, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden.

The Bangles second #1- after ‘Walk Like An Egyptian’ in 1986. They also had 2 singles which peaked at #2- ‘Manic Monday’ and ‘Hazy Shade Of Winter’. A great song here- the first time I heard it -it sounded like a big hit to me- and I also sensed the end was near for The Bangles. This felt like a Susanna Hoffs solo offering instead of a Bangles single.

  1. Great song, apparently inspired by the flame at Elvis’ Graceland . Rumor has it Susanna was nude when she recorded the vocals. Boy… would it have gone to #1++ if that was in the video…?
