Hans Hot 100 Beatles Songs: #52: ‘Helter Skelter’
#52: “Helter Skelter’- one of 13 songs from The Beatles White Album- that makes the Hans Hot 100 Beatles songs countdown. If I had done a countdown on The Beatles songs back in the last 70’s- ‘Helter Skelter’ wouldn’t have ranked very high- it wouldn’t have made a Hot 100- it would have been near the bottom. Over time this song has not only grown on me but I’ve come to love it. Paul McCartney wrote it- after hearing about an upcoming song by The Who being the loudest dirtiest song they’ve ever done- and he came up with an idea to top that. He did.

I love this one as well. I’ve never heard a cover of it that I like as well as The Beatles. U2 did a good cover of it but nothing with the intensity of this. The metal bands that have done covers of this don’t get the rawness that the Beatles did.
