Sheriff a group from Toronto, Ontario, Canada- was a one hit wonder- the band had broken up in 1983- -in late 1988 a radio programmer in Phoenix started to play this song from the early 80’s and it caught on- Capitol then re-released it- and it went to #1. The band declined to get back together even with the #1 hit.

  1. There’s a screenplay in that story. Get a record deal, give it your all, the venture fails, the confidence falters, you and the band break up, you move on, go back home to work at the printing works or whatever… five long years later you’re Number One- but the magic has long gone. The Cinderella story in reverse for cynics.

  2. not a great song, though not terrible either. Rather forgettable, Sheriff – as we in toronto used to call ’em “the guys that make that other Toronto band with an American #1 hit , Glass Tiger, seem fantastic!!”
