#54: ‘Michelle’- Another song from the brilliant Rubber Soul album- at #56 ‘Girl’- its hard to pick between ‘Girl’ and ‘Michelle’ – toss a coin. This is a Paul McCartney written tune-with John Lennon writing the middle eight. ‘Michelle’ won a Grammy for Song Of The Year in 1967. It was never released as a single in the US- but again- here is one that if they had it would have rose to the top- like it did in a half dozen countries in Europe.

  1. You know when the Andy Williams cheesy-smiling easy going style of entertainers start covering your songs you’ve gone a ways on from ‘Love Me Do’ to this. ‘Michelle’ was one of the first Beatles songs to soon become a standard. Evolution of the songwriters.
