Some trivia to tell your friends- The Escape Club is the only British artists to have a #1 hit in the United States while never charting in the UK. While I couldn’t name another hit from The Escape Club they did squeeze out two more Top 40 hits in the United States- including a #8 in 1991- ‘I’ll Be There.’ … The Escape Club’s ‘Wild, Wild West’ has a striking similarity to King Elvis’s [Costello] ‘Pump It Up.’ If you are going to nick something do it from the best.
This song was so odd at the time. On first listen I was repulsed. Then it grew on me.
