Freddie Hart was a country singer with 48 country hits from 1959-87. He was born Fred Segrest in Alabama in 1926. This was hit only Hot 100 pop hit. It won the CMA Award for Song Of the Year. Freddie Hart died at the age of 91 in 2018. In his later years he was a gospel singer.
