Astley’s second #1 hit in three months. When Rick Astley comes to mind I think of one night around this period- I was hanging out with my friends Dan and Hammer- and Hammer played a new song he had written. Dan replied that sounds like Rick Astley- at first Hammer was excited about that then he realized who Rick Astley was…. Hammer was pretty gullible. Once he came over and I put the needle on Donna Summer’s ‘Cold Love” and told him it was The Jam. He got all excited ‘This is great”–then when Donna started singing he started to look puzzled. I told him [he hated disco] that it was Donna Summer- “I hate that song’- it was too late he said he loved it. Of course I reminded him of that the other day- it was only 40 years or so later.
