It was great to see Beatle George have this late career success with the album Cloud 9- and a #1 hit- a cover of an obscure 1962 single by James Ray. George has he distinction of having the last #1 hit by a Beatle in the Billboard Pop Hot 100.
“This song is six words long, this song is six word long”. But it is still so good.
It wasn’t the strongest song but I was like you…glad to see George back in the charts and at #1
It was so nice to see that after all his frustration with the music business and several years of hiatus, George staged a nice comeback with this album. And while “Cloud Nine” was his final solo album released during his lifetime, it did prompt him to start the Traveling Wilburys.
When Cloud 9 came out I remember being a little surprised- I thought that it was possible George would never release another album.. back then 5-6 years between albums was forever- today not so much.
