Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘The Ballad Of John And Yoko’- Hootie and The Blowfish. The John Lennon written hit single which chronicles the adventures of John and Yoko Ono. On the 25th anniversary of Hootie and The Blowfish’s ‘Cracked Rear View’ album they include a live version of ‘The Ballad of John and Yoko.’
Hootie has done some cool covers. This one isn’t really my favorite. I prefer his cover or Bill Withers’ Use Me. His cover of Roy Orbison’s Dream Baby is good too …
Not many covers of Ballad of John and Yoko- Will have to check out their covers of those songs you mentioned.
Just doesn’t seem right for anyone but Lennon to be singing this.
It is such a personal song I am surprised that anyone covered it. I think he actually should have released it as a John Lennon single- not a Beatles one.
I agree
Keith they do a great one of Tangerine on Lez Zep tribute album Encomium also.
Wow! I will have to look for that.
They do a fair to middlin job on it, but Hootie’s voice is sounding a little rough here.
