Oh yes! Gary Numan “Cars” is my favorite on the list too! It reminds me of the family get togethers at our house and “Cars” would be playing on the radio! 🙂🙃
it sure sounded a lot different from anything else on the radio too.
Yes it did, which is why I loved it so much. I think that song marked the beginning of that distinguishable ’80s synth sound we all loved so much!
WOW. It’s a rare chart where I actually remember every song. Summer of 1980…14 and headed to 9th grade. Incredible list. I actually bought the “Coming Up” single. I did not like the live version.
Some movie music…Xanadu, Blues Brothers, Urban Cowboy, The Empire Strikes Back, American Gigolo, The Rose (even though a 1979 movie).
You not fond of Pete Townshend’s single?
To a teen, this was a great list. I really like Benny Mardones’ Into The Night.
Oh I love ‘Cars’.. the 45 record sleeve picture s great, he’s like a robot with his hands on an invisible steering wheel. The video is pretty corny but that’s back when things were unsophisticated for videos.
King of the Hill… that’s Roger McGuinn’s and Tom Petty’s song, I don’t want anybody else haha
The Blues Brothers anytime anywhere
Oops the King of the Hill listed is a different song than Roger’s…my booboo… but still I don’t want anybody but him doing it – I’m a fierce fan
