Hans Hot 100 Beatles Songs: #85: ‘ Yer Blues’- ‘Yer Blues’ is a John Lennon song [credited to Lennon- McCartney] on The White Album – one of 13 songs from that album to crack the Hans Hot 100. This parody of blues music- was written by John during The Beatles trip to India- which turned out to be a very productive trip at least musically. A lot of songs which ended up on The White Album were written in India. Like with ‘I Want You [She’s So Heavy]- this is a song which took a few years to grow on me. I wasn’t used to such rawness at the time.
I like how they dipped their toe in different styles…even ob bla di… this one and Helter Skelter it took me a while to get it…but then I like it.
this wouldn’t have fit into earlier albums- but The White Album being such a great hodgepodge … works well.
The unpredictable part of it is what I like.
I like the version John did with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, and Mitch Mitchell… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeFwaWFTGYU
Cool. And quite a super-group! Also interesting to see Keith on bass.
Same here. It wasn’t love at first sight but now I kinda dig it!
