I’ve never cared for Bon Jovi- although I will say I did like ‘It’s My Life’- but then again Bon Jovi doesn’t even have the best or second best ‘It’s My Life’- the two best being The Animals and Talk Talk. Bon Jovi just one step up in the food chain from the hair bands of the 80’s. All four of their #1 hits came in the late 80’s. “You Give Love A Bad Name’- was the first- followed by ‘Livin’ On A Prayer’,’ Bad Medicine’ and “I’ll Be There For You.’
I guess I’m one of the 100,000,000 Bon Jovi fans who can’t be wrong!😆
On a more serious note, while I wouldn’t call myself a fan, I think Bon Bovi have had some good songs.
I would kid my then girlfriend about this song in particular…. by the end of the eighties she agreed with me.
girls liked them because they liked Jon Bon Jovi.. I don’t think they actually liked the music. The give New Jersey a bad name.
That should have been the title!
I think NJ should be prouder of Sinatra and The Boss– and The Smithereens.
Ugh. So overplayed. They were interesting when I was a teen. The only song I really enjoy is Keep The Faith.
Hans while logically and cognitively I agree with you emotionally this song and Living in a Prayer are two of my guilty pleasures – what’s better than driving down the road with the windows open yelling out the chorus !?! 😀
I liked Bon Jovi, still do. I think the songs got better with age. Young guns album was a bit different, but still to my taste.
I tend to agree with you Hans, as to my ears, most of their songs sounded alike and interchangeable. I do love “Livin’ On a Prayer” however. That intro ranks among the best of any song ever recorded.
