Hans Hot 100 Beatles Songs: #88: ‘There’s A Place’-
#88: ‘There’s A Place’- a Lennon-McCartney song- primarily written by John Lennon. It is one of five songs from The Beatles debut album Please Please Me- to make the Hans Hot 100. Lennon was attempting to write a Motown type song. I’ve always thought of this song and The Beach Boys ‘In My Room’- another 1963 song- as being brother songs. Brian Wilson retreated to his room- The Beatles -the place they went was their mind.
I love the “rounds” the song makes. It’s one I really like. The Smithereens do a wonderful cover also.
I really like the harmonica in this, even though he’s playing the same thing over and over.
that is one of the highlights of the song for sure
