I am still shaking my head over learning that Peter Wolf not only wrote the putrid ‘We Built This City’- but he also wrote the follow up which also went to #1 ‘Sara.’ I can’t really believe that either of those singles were hits let along #1 hits. Maybe it was the times. The quality of the #1 hits really took a nose dive in 1985 and looking at 1986 it hasn’t gotten any better. In the UK they got this one right- peaked at #66.
They built this city on schlock and roll
However, I think the Peter Wolf in question is not the J Geils Band singer, but a composer/producer from Austria.
ah! Thank you- I can’t imagine Peter Wolf and those bums on the same Earth let alone working together. Something about that didn’t seem right I should have looked into it… Thanks!!
Well, THAT explains a lot:

This sucks as much as “We Built…”
