Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs:’ With A Little Help From My Friends’- Joe Cocker. The song which John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote for Ringo to sing on Sgt. Pepper- a great Beatles song but- no knock on The Beatles of course but Joe Cocker’s cover- is it the best cover ever of a Beatles song? Joe sure knocks it out of the park. Hard to believe but as a single by Cocker it peaked at #68 in the Billboard Hot 100. If it’s not the best cover of a Beatles song it is on a very very short list.

  1. I agree Cocker’s rendition is the best Beatles cover. I would even go as far as making it a contender for best rock cover of all time. Cocker truly transformed this tune to another level. In fact, it’s probably more a remake than a cover.

    • i hadn’t thought that far ahead but this and Jimi’s All Along The Watchtower come to mind as greatest covers.
