Pepper- a great Beatles song but- no knock on The Beatles of course but Joe Cocker’s cover- is it the best cover ever of a Beatles song? Joe sure knocks it out of the park. Hard to believe but as a single by Cocker it peaked at #68 in the Billboard Hot 100. If it’s not the best cover of a Beatles song it is on a very very short list.

I agree it’s on the short list. I hate that album cover but once seen never forgotten.
I agree Cocker’s rendition is the best Beatles cover. I would even go as far as making it a contender for best rock cover of all time. Cocker truly transformed this tune to another level. In fact, it’s probably more a remake than a cover.
i hadn’t thought that far ahead but this and Jimi’s All Along The Watchtower come to mind as greatest covers.
Yup! So many great covers floating out in the music world. I’m still discovering songs that I thought were originals , were covers.
