Born John Robert Cocker in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England in 1944- Joe Cocker died of lung cancer at the age of 70 in 2014. From 1968-90 he had 21 Hot 100 singles with 9 making the Top 40- his biggest hit went to #1- his duet with Jennifer Warnes ‘Up Where We Belong’ in 1982.
