UNDER THE COVERS: OTHER ARTISTS COVERING BEATLES SONGS: ‘I’VE JUST SEEN A FACE’- THE DILLARDS

Did the Darlings sing these songs on The Andy Griffith Show, or did we make them up?

Under The Covers: ‘Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face’- from The Beatles Help! album- a Lennon-McCartney song that was written and sung by Paul McCartney. This cover by The Dillards is the first time I heard the song- my dad was a big bluegrass fan and he had this album. I remember liking this song as a kid- and later when I heard the original version by The Beatles- it was instantly recognizable. Most of the covers of “I’ve Just Seen A Face’- are country – bluegrass covers- The Beatles original does have that country influence about it.

If you are a fan of The Andy Griffith Show- and that is one of my all time favorite shows- especially the Barney Fife era of the show- you know the Dillards- they made appearances on The Andy Griffith Show- as the Darling Family.

  1. Dillard (Doug) and Clark’s (Gene) “The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark” (1968) was one of the best pioneering country-rock albums. Superb.
