Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘When I Get Home’- Rustix. While ‘When I Get Home’ would rank as my least favorite song on the A Hard Day’s Night soundtrack- I get more appreciation for the original when I hear this 1968 cover by Rustix- an R&B blue-eyed soul band from Rochester, New York.
Yup, the Rustix were from my hometown Rochester, NY. In fact, I used to deliver the newspaper to the home of co-lead singer, Albe Galich who passed away in 2013 down in Alabama.
The Rustix sound pretty good. As a Beatles fan, I’d go as far as saying it’s at least as good if not better as the original!
