Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘ I Call Your Name’- The Mamas & The Papas. The Beatles released ‘I Call Your Name’- on the Long Tall Sally EP- it can now be found on Past Masters I. The Mamas And The Papas covered it on their debut album -If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears which was released in 1966.

    • If I were an artist covering a beatles song- i’d cover a minor song [minor for The Beatles] over one of their well known hits- like they did on this one.

  1. Mama Cass owned that song. I watched the Monterey Pop documentary which included them singing 3 songs, live. The first two were just so-so, and Cass had to step back from the mic because she overpowered everyone else. Michelle must have had her mic turned off or was afraid to sing. When Cass did this tune live it was perfect. What a talent gone too soon.
